Ilam Bazaar-Birtamod connected by fast track

Mangalbare, Feb 20 (RSS): A fast track connecting Ilam Bazar to Tarai has been opened. The project on the construction of 10-kilometer new route from Golakharka Bhanjyang to Belase via Bhangtar and Rakase has been complete, reducing the distance to reach Birtamod of Jhapa from here by 39 kilometers. People have now an option to the existing 86-kilometer route to reach Birtamod via Mechi Highway. Now, Birtamod is reachable from here via a shorter route measuring 47 kilometers and it takes an hour travel against about three hours in the past. Drinking water facility to 150 households

Thaibang and Tallo Daduwa villages of Mangala Municipality in the district have been benefited with drinking water facility. Two drinking water projects launched by West Nepal Rural Drinking Water and Sanitation Programme benefitted some 150 households here. The Municipality mayor Satprasad Roka said Panchase project was materialized at the cost of Rs 7.2 million, while Dhobikhola project at Rs 4.7 million. The projects were accomplished with the assistance of Finnish government, Nepal government and grants from the Municipality, he added. Municipality in dark since two weeks

Tripurasundari municipality residents are forced to live in darkness since the past two week, after regular power supply stopped. The problem was a result of a technical snag at the Chalgaad micro-hydropower project that supplies power to the municipality. The generator of the project is reported to have malfunctioned. As a result, residents of Tripurakot, Galli, Karelikanda, Bagar are forced to live in darkness. Government services have been affected while communication has become a problem as people have not been able to charge their mobile phones, said local resident Harischandra Bista.

Reconstruction of Gorkha palace delayed

The reconstruction of the historical Gorkha palace, damaged in the 2015 earthquake, continues to be delayed. Some 15 months since the reconstruction work began, only the foundation work has been completed. One person died while 10 others were injured after being hit by a lightning in separate incidents in the district on Saturday. Bhagendra Tamang,17, a resident of Pauwasartapka in Falgunandana rural municipality-3 died after being struck by the sudden discharge of electricity from the clouds.
